Lent, a season observed in the Christian church since the 3rd century, begins with Ash Wednesday and ends on Palm Sunday. It is connected to the 40 days of Jesus’ period of suffering in the desert before starting his ministry.
We invite you to journey with Christ in some new intentional way, as in the words of Luke, “he set his face to go to Jerusalem.” As he took his disciples with him, we would like to model their companionship, going through the season together as a community.
- The sermons during the Lenten weeks will follow Jesus’ journey described in Luke.
- We will make available meditative questions on those passages of Scripture the week prior to the message. Links to the meditations are available below.
- We will have three events to help each other keep on track:
- “Pancake Tuesday” Dinner (more accurately called Shrove Tuesday), 6:00 pm – a meal together at the church, ending with a short reflection about Ash Wednesday.
- Wednesday March 11, 7:00 pm – meeting in small groups at the church to encourage one another and pray together.
- Wednesday March 25, 7:00 pm – a second one-hour meeting in small groups at the church.
Join us at whatever level of participation is comfortable for you.
