This is an urgent call for prayer to our Heavenly Father as the world continues to be embattled by the scourge of the corona virus.
When we come together in His name, he is with us (Mathew 18 - 20.) Also, when we call on God as His people, He hears us and responds (2 Chronicles 7-14.) Therefore, our responsibility is to rise up and pray to our Heavenly Father for help.
What should we be praying for?
- Confession of sins- We need to ask for God’s mercy and forgiveness of our sins as individuals and then nations, in that we have chosen our own ways and ignored His will. We need to call on the Lord Jesus our Advocate and Saviour for mercy because all authority in heaven and earth belongs to Him.
- Pray that the Lord will intervene and cause the pandemic to stop.
- Ask for protection from the virus and strength for frontline workers: Doctors, nurses, the police, social workers and many more in their duties as first responders and care givers. We ask for protection for the hourly employees in the stores from the virus as well as from the fear and panic in their workplace.
- Pray for God’s peace and the spirit of love among the people as hearts fail and people panic.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide our leaders in their decision making and response to this complex situation.
- Pray for salvation of people. God does not want the death of sinners but that all should be saved.
- Pray for the vulnerable in society for God’s protection and provision.
This is our confidence that when we call on our God and Father, He hears us and when we know He has heard, we know that we receive our petition to Him in prayer (1 John 5: 14-15.)
The grace of our Lord be with you all.
