The Palm Sunday narrative operates on two levels: at one level the people of Jerusalem have no idea what is transpiring, “Who is this?”; on a deeper level of faith people perceive that Jesus is inaugurating a new paradigm of “kingship”. We also have the job of interpreting the story and making our response to the new King.
