The Song of Solomon is a love poem which can be interpreted on a number of levels: first as a love song between two individuals; second, a love song between God and his chosen people Israel; and finally as a love poem celebrating the love of Jesus and his followers. In all three of the approaches there is a movement of love which recognizes God as the source of our love and of “his banner of love” which covers us as his beloved children.
