The Upper room discourse (John 13-17) is an intimate conversation between Jesus and his disciples which explores his deepening relationship with them. They are invited to grow from being little children to the elevated level of friends of Jesus. As the disciples are invited on this journey so are you and I - we are invited to become friends/intimates with Jesus and the Father.
