Barriers to Genuine Faith

Achan represents an attitude of self-reliance which distances himself from living in relationship with God.  His actions based in greed, covetousness and pride ultimately bring judgment upon both Achan and his family.  The story reminds us of the need to remain in an attitude of dependence upon the living God.
