A Famine for Hearing God's Word

Israel’s refusal to heed the prophet’s message ultimately brings ruin upon the nation.  God’s judgment upon Israel for neglecting the poor includes an invasion of the Assyrian regime into Israel which ends with the exile of the ruling classes.  Moreover, on a deeper level, God’s judgment speaks to a famine of hearing God’s words because the voice of the prophets has be silenced.
