In the baptism of Jesus we recognize the Trinitarian nature of the Godhead: the Father speaks and the Spirit descends upon the Son of God. As the Spirit comes upon Jesus he is empowered for the challenging mission that lies before him.
In a similar way, God comes towards us through the presence of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, the Sprit becomes the ongoing communication of Jesus in our lives leading us deeper into a relationship of growth and intimacy with the Divine Family.
