The Gospel writer, Mark, masterfully weaves two different stories on faith (the story of Jairus & his sick daughter and an ill woman suffering from a long-standing condition) to highlight the need for trusting in God and refusing to live in the house of fear. Even as the woman in Mark’s narrative desired to reach out and touch Jesus and Jairus was encouraged to ‘not fear, only believe’, can we also have a heart’s desire to come close to Jesus and develop a relationship of intimacy, trust and confidence in our loving God? As we say ‘yes’ to this invitation we can change our residency from the ‘house of fear’ to the ‘house of love’.
