Jesus comes treading upon the waters to help his struggling disciples make it to the other side of the lake. It is night, the winds are strong, the disciples are exhausted and danger is looming at the door. It is in this critical moment that Jesus shows up, calms the storm and brings them safely to shore.
Similarly, Jesus comes to aid us in our storms as we have eyes to see and hearts that are open to receive his touch; soft hearts, pliable hearts. Not hardened hearts that are cynical and full of fear but receptive hearts that find solace in his compassionate presence. May we keep looking to Jesus in the midst of the storm so that we receive his help in our time of need.
