The story of the raising of Lazarus is the zenith in John's narrative before the paschal mystery of Jesus Christ. Jesus calls out the name of Lazarus and raises him from the dead even as he will call out our names and we will be raised to life. All of this is prefaced by our faith in Jesus and by entering into a relationship with him which death cannot terminate.
