The Lamentation of Jeremiah begins in a position of paralysis where the prophet is weighed down by the gridlocked attitudes of the people of Israel. Yet, from the depth rises a spirit of hope that through God’s Spirit new life is possible. Then one moves from being stuck to unstuck, from discouragement to optimism, from despair to hopefulness.
