This week we begin the season of Lent and to guide our reflections we will consider a variety of 'bread' themes from the scriptures. Today, we hear the proverbial injunction to 'cast our bread upon the waters...' (Ecclesiastes 11:1). It is a call to action rather than passivity. Ultimately, it encourages us to cast our eyes upon Jesus who strides across the waters as the Bread of Life.
