The Gospel of John presents the nativity story through the metaphorical lens of ‘life’, ‘light’ and ‘love’. The light of God breaks through the darkness in his self-giving which is realized in the person of Jesus, His Son. This action of self-giving love re-invents us as God’s own children with the mesmerizing promise that we belong to him in love for all time.
