Advent is a season for all ages. It includes voices for children, young adults, the newly married and seniors. Indeed, it is the song of Simeon that shapes our thoughts for today's narrative. In it the elderly prophet praises God for his gift of salvation, peace, forgiveness and inclusion for Israel and all the peoples of the earth through the birth of the Messiah. It is the Evangelist's aspiration that Simeon's insightful acclamation will resonate in our own hearts and energize us towards enthusiastic devotion and service to our Saviour King.
