The liturgy of Christmas includes this powerful statement: "O Unsearchable Mystery! God has taken our human nature, he has deigned to be born of the virgin in order to make us sharers in his own divinity." In this note of praise we encounter our fundamental hope and reason for living – we have been created in order to become daughters and sons of our loving God and as such, participants in his divine nature – this is the story of the incarnation.
