In religious parlance we speak of The Gospel of Mark as the first Gospel. And while it is true that the word 'Gospel' is first annunciated in Mark (1:1), the Gospel is not about Mark but clearly proclaims "the Gospel of God" (1:15). In this Gospel of God we hear the story of salvation, love and mercy as it is revealed in Jesus the Son of God (1:1). Through this season of Lent may we listen attentively to God's Gospel of hope to strengthen us as we make our journey of faith.
